Marvel: Crisis Protocol
Marvel: Crisis Protocol review
Marvel: Crisis Protocol is a fantastic miniatures game for Marvel fans! It's definitely a fun, easy-to-learn game with a lot of depth and customization, but I do need to mention the elephant in the room – the miniature assembly. I’ve seen a lot of reviews complaining about the small, fiddly parts and some are even right! It’s definitely a step up from other tabletop games, and some models are more complex than others. Some are really simple, while others can be a bit of a pain, especially if you aren’t used to building miniatures. Captain Marvel was definitely a pain, as the arms have tiny parts and are difficult to tell which goes where. I’m not the most patient person, and I definitely needed to take my time. Some people recommended a good set of tweezers, which definitely helped! It’s important to note that while it can be frustrating at times, the details are phenomenal and well worth the extra effort. They truly do make the game feel like you’re playing with a miniature version of the Marvel universe!
I’m not sure why the designers felt the need to make some of the parts so small, but it’s a shame because it discourages some people who are new to miniatures from even trying it out. However, if you can get past that, there’s a lot to love here. The rules are surprisingly simple to learn, and the gameplay is fast-paced and engaging. There’s also a lot of room for customization, which is great for replayability. I’ve already bought a few expansions and I can’t wait to see what other characters and teams I can build.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Marvel: Crisis Protocol, but only if you’re willing to put in the time and effort to build the models. If you’re looking for a miniatures game that’s more “plug and play”, this might not be the right game for you. However, if you’re a Marvel fan and you’re willing to put in the work, I think you’ll be very happy with this game.
