LYNGK
LYNGK review
LYNGK is a fantastic addition to the GIPF Project series, and a must-have for fans of abstract strategy games. While it does require some prior experience with the series, as it's a synthesis of the previous games, it's worth the effort. The rules are a bit more complex, and the strategic depth feels more opaque at first. But once you grasp the intricacies, it becomes an incredibly engaging game.
One of the standout features is the extended initial phase where players don't choose their colors. This creates a fascinating dynamic where the board slowly reveals patterns and possibilities. This phase feels almost meditative, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of the unfolding game before the competitive element kicks in. I really enjoyed this unique element.
While LYNGK is a challenging game, the simple rules and elegant design make it approachable. It's also a great game for players of different skill levels, as the non-competitive opening allows for a more relaxed experience. I also appreciate the use of bright colors, making it appealing for both adults and children.
The quality of the components is top-notch, and the game offers a lot of replayability. The only downside is the price, which might be a bit steep for some. But if you enjoy abstract strategy games, I highly recommend checking out LYNGK. You won't be disappointed.
