Legends of Andor review

Legends of Andor is a cooperative fantasy game that has quickly become a favorite in our household. The game's unique narrative structure, where each "Legend" is a self-contained scenario with its own story and objectives, really draws you in. You're not just rolling dice and fighting monsters; you're actually feeling like you're part of a grand epic tale.

The game does a great job of teaching you the rules as you go, starting with a simple introductory Legend that gets you familiar with the basics. As you progress through the Legends, new mechanics and elements are introduced, keeping the game fresh and engaging. The action economy is also a neat touch, making you carefully consider how you spend your hero's limited time each turn.

The game is definitely challenging, even with everyone working together. You have to balance your priorities, deciding whether to focus on defeating monsters, completing quests, or exploring the map. Sometimes you have to make tough choices and sacrifice some objectives in order to secure a victory.

One thing I really appreciate is the quality of the components. The board is sturdy, the artwork is beautiful, and the figurines are well-made. The game also comes with a ton of pieces, but they are well-organized and easy to keep track of.

The replayability of the game is decent. The five included Legends offer a good amount of gameplay, and each one can be played multiple times thanks to the varying objectives and random elements. There's also an expansion available, and you can even download additional Legends from the creator's website. While it's true that the Legends are narrative in nature and there isn't much random element beyond dice rolls and item placement, the overall story and the challenge of completing each scenario make it very enjoyable to play again and again.

If you're looking for a cooperative fantasy game that offers a unique narrative experience and a good level of challenge, I highly recommend Legends of Andor. It's a fun, engaging, and immersive game that's perfect for family game nights or a night out with friends.
