Ingenious: Travel Edition review

Ingenious: Travel Edition is a great two-player game that I picked up for a recent vacation. I was looking for something compact and engaging, and this definitely fit the bill. The game is based on the larger version of Ingenious, but it's been scaled down for travel. The pieces are small and fit nicely in the box, and the board itself is compact. I really appreciated that the pieces lock into place on the board, which means no pieces flying around during travel.

The game itself is pretty simple to learn. The goal is to score points by placing tiles next to other tiles of the same color. You can score up to five points per tile, and the first player to reach 18 points in a color gets to call out "Genial!" and take an extra turn. The game ends when all the tiles are placed, and the player with the highest score in their lowest-scoring color wins.

I really enjoyed the strategic element of the game. You have to think carefully about where to place your tiles, as each move can impact your score in multiple colors. I also like that the game is based on luck as well as strategy. If you don't draw the right colored tile when you need it, you can be in a tough spot.

Overall, I think this game is a great option for two players who want a fun and engaging game that travels well. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a new game to add to their travel collection. The small size of the pieces can make it a little difficult to play with younger children, but I think it's a great game for anyone who enjoys strategy games.
