Blue Moon City
Blue Moon City review
Blue Moon City is a fun and engaging game that picks up where the two-player game, Blue Moon, left off. The goal is to rebuild the destroyed city of Blue Moon using cards featuring the different races of Blue Moon. The game includes three large molded plastic dragons and 21 building tiles that depict building plans on one side and the completed buildings on the other. I found the game to be quite addictive, with a good mix of tactics, skill, and luck. The theme is a bit pasted on, but it works well and I enjoyed playing it with two, three, or four players.
However, I did encounter some issues with the game's components, particularly the colors. Several reviewers mentioned that the colors were too similar, making it difficult to tell them apart, especially in low-light conditions. I agree that the black and dark gray, brown and dark red, and white and light gray were all very close in shade, which made it difficult to play the game. This was especially frustrating since color is so central to the game's decisions. I would recommend avoiding this version of the game if you are color blind or sensitive to similar colors.
Despite the color issues, I still enjoyed Blue Moon City. The gameplay is fun and engaging, and I appreciated the inclusion of mini-expansions that added more variety to the game. If you are a fan of Reiner Knizia games, I would definitely recommend checking this one out. Just be aware of the color issues and make sure you are comfortable with them before purchasing the game.
