Betrayal Legacy
Betrayal Legacy review
Betrayal Legacy is a unique experience that blends the fun of the original *Betrayal at House on the Hill* with a multi-game campaign that feels like a choose your own adventure book. I've always loved *Betrayal*, and this version takes everything I love about the original and adds layers of depth and complexity. It’s not just about exploring a spooky mansion, it’s about building its history and watching it evolve over time.
My favorite aspect of the Legacy version is how the game changes as you play. Each session reveals new secrets, new rooms, and even new characters. It feels like a living, breathing world that you're shaping with your choices. I especially loved the "heirloom" system, where you get to claim specific items and use them to your advantage in future games. It really adds a sense of personal investment and connection to the game.
That being said, there are a few things that could be improved. The rules can be a bit overwhelming at first, and I found myself constantly referencing the rulebook, even after playing several times. Some players might also be put off by the permanent changes you make to the game – you’re encouraged to tear up cards, add stickers, and even write on the components. This might make some players feel like they're destroying their game, but I actually found it quite engaging, as it felt like I was truly leaving my mark on the world.
Overall, Betrayal Legacy is a fantastic game that I highly recommend for fans of the original *Betrayal at House on the Hill*, as well as anyone looking for a unique and engaging campaign-style board game. Just be prepared for a wild ride!
