Yomi review

Yomi is a card game that simulates a fighting game, and it’s a ton of fun. The gameplay is simple, with a rock-paper-scissors mechanic at its core, but it’s deceptively deep and requires a lot of strategy and mind-reading. I love that each of the ten characters has its own unique deck and playstyle, making every match feel different.

The art is amazing, too. Each deck features beautiful illustrations that really bring the characters to life. The game components are of good quality, and I especially appreciate the play mats that come included.

However, the price is a bit steep for what you get. The card stock feels a bit flimsy, and I would definitely recommend sleeving the decks for protection. I also think the game could benefit from a more detailed rulebook. I had to refer to the BoardGameGeek forums a few times to clarify some rules.

Overall, despite the price and the somewhat confusing rulebook, I highly recommend Yomi. It’s a fun and engaging game that’s perfect for anyone who enjoys fighting games or strategy card games. It's definitely one of those games that gets better the more you play it, and I’m sure I’ll be enjoying it for a long time to come. I would just say it is worth it if you have a group of friends who are also into this sort of thing.
