Sardegna
Sardegna review
Sardegna is a game that surprised me in its compact design. I was expecting a larger box with all the components you'd find in a typical area control game, but this one fits neatly in my hand! I'm a sucker for games with great production value, and this one definitely delivers. The wooden pieces are beautifully crafted and the art is fantastic. The magnetized board is a clever design, though it takes a little getting used to. The magnetic board folds out of the box and forms the game board which is a clever way to save space.
The gameplay itself is very strategic. You need to carefully place your pieces and make sure you have the most influence in the right places at the right time. The scoring system is a bit unique, as you only know the next two scoring locations. This adds a bit of a strategic challenge, as you have to anticipate where the scoring will be in future rounds. I found the game to be quite engaging, with a lot of thought-provoking decisions to make. The game is not for beginners, but if you're looking for a challenging area control game that you can take on the go, Sardegna is a great option.
I've only had a chance to play a couple of games so far, but I'm really enjoying it. I'm looking forward to exploring the game's different strategies and seeing how I can improve my game. I highly recommend this game to fans of area control games. It's a great game for a casual game night or a more competitive session. It's also a great choice for gamers who are looking for a portable game that doesn't sacrifice any depth.
