Babylonia
Babylonia review
Babylonia is a fantastic game that brings a fresh perspective to classic worker placement mechanics. As the description states, you're trying to make your clan prosper during the reign of Nebuchadnezzar II, which was a time of great growth for the Neo-Babylonian Empire. This theme shines through in the gameplay. You'll strategically place your nobles, priests, and craftsmen tokens on the map, vying for the most profitable cities and the favor of the rulers. It's a constant balancing act between maximizing your resources and gaining political influence. The artwork is beautiful, and the components feel high quality. I particularly appreciate the well-designed wooden pieces. The only issue I've encountered is that some of the pieces were slightly stuck together, and there was a bit of paint transfer between them. While this isn't a huge deal, it does make me a bit concerned about the potential for inconsistent piece quality. I'm hoping it's just a minor oversight in production.
Overall, Babylonia is a fun and engaging game that I highly recommend. If you enjoy worker placement games like Samurai or Euphrat & Tigris, then you'll definitely want to check this one out. Just be sure to give the pieces a quick inspection before you start playing, just in case.
