Railways of Nippon

I recently picked up Railways of Nippon after being introduced to the Railways of the World series by a friend. This game is fantastic, even without the base game! I rarely play with more than 4 people, so the smaller map of Japan really appeals to me, and the tight gameplay makes things very competitive. It also saves a lot of space on my game shelf - the standalone box is less than half the size of the base game.

If you're a fan of train games, or just thinking about getting into the series, this is the perfect place to start. I wouldn't recommend the base game or the 10th Anniversary edition - this version has everything you need and then some.

The components are of high quality, and it's a great entry point into the Railways of the World system. If you're looking for a standalone game with a compact footprint and intense gameplay, Railways of Nippon is an excellent choice. I highly recommend it.
