Brotherhood & Unity
Brotherhood & Unity review
Brotherhood & Unity is a card-driven wargame that simulates the Bosnian War from 1992 to 1995. It's a fascinating and complex conflict, and the game does a good job of capturing the main events, from the siege of Sarajevo to the battles for Posavina and the defense of Bosniak enclaves.
The game uses a point-to-point movement system, and combat is resolved quickly without the use of a CRT. The rules are streamlined, and the game is fast-paced, typically taking about two hours to play.
One of the things I really like about this game is the way it simulates the different sides in the war. Each side has its own unique set of strengths and weaknesses, and players have to make tough choices about how to use their resources. There's also a lot of diplomatic maneuvering, as players try to secure alliances and gain the support of foreign powers. This adds a lot of depth and replayability to the game.
I've only played a few games so far, but I'm really impressed with Brotherhood & Unity. It's a challenging but rewarding game that I highly recommend to anyone interested in historical wargames. However, I have to agree with the other reviewer - the box is pretty flimsy. Mine arrived in a beat-up condition, even though the game itself was fine. Hopefully, Compass Games will improve the box quality in future editions.
