Ys review

Ys is a strategic and engaging board game that offers a lot of replayability. The game takes place in the mythical city of Ys, where players take on the role of merchant-princes vying for wealth and power. The gameplay is straightforward, but the strategic depth is surprisingly complex. Each turn, players place their brokers in various areas of the city to control resources and influence the value of precious gems. The game features a clever bluff system with face-up and face-down brokers, adding an extra layer of intrigue and tension. I found myself constantly strategizing and adapting my tactics to outmaneuver my opponents.

The game's scoring system is fairly simple to grasp, but it allows for a wide range of winning strategies. The fact that you can win the game through different approaches keeps things interesting. Ys is truly a game of constant negotiation and calculation, where every decision matters.

While the game is fun with 2 players, I agree with other reviewers that Ys truly shines with a full 4-player game. The increased competition adds another dimension of strategy and makes for a much more exciting experience. I'm looking forward to playing this game with friends and family for years to come.
