Spots
Spots review
Spots is a delightful little push-your-luck game that has quickly become a favorite in our household. The artwork is incredibly charming, with each dog card featuring a unique and adorable pup. The gameplay is simple to learn, but there's a surprising amount of strategy involved in deciding which dice to place and when to take a risk on another roll. The "treats" are a great way to mitigate bad rolls, but they also add a layer of strategic decision-making as players decide whether to hoard them or use them to try and secure a winning streak.
We particularly enjoy the variety of "trick" cards that come with the game, each offering a different action that can change the course of play. The option to use a different set of cards for each game keeps things fresh and exciting. The game is also very quick to learn, with games typically taking less than 30 minutes, making it perfect for a casual game night or a quick filler game between longer games.
While the game does rely on a fair amount of luck, the strategic choices and the fun of pushing your luck make it an enjoyable experience for players of all ages. We've played it with kids and adults, and everyone seems to have a good time. It's definitely a game that we'll be pulling out for years to come.
