The Princes of Machu Picchu review

I recently had the opportunity to play The Princes of Machu Picchu, and I must say, it's a captivating game that truly transports you to the heart of the Incan Empire. The premise is simple yet intriguing: you play as an Incan prince trying to either protect the lost city of Machu Picchu from the Spanish conquistadors or outmaneuver your fellow princes to secure the most influence with the gods. The game mechanics are engaging, with players moving their princes around the city map, performing actions like growing corn, feeding llamas, and engaging priests and virgins.

The game's design is excellent, and I found the gameplay to be incredibly strategic. The choices you make regarding resource management and god-pleasing can significantly impact your success. The different victory conditions – either by helping the Incan people or by accumulating enough gold – add another layer of complexity and make each playthrough unique. I particularly enjoyed the element of potential betrayal, as you never know if a fellow prince might secretly be working with the Spanish.

I'd recommend The Princes of Machu Picchu to anyone who enjoys strategy games with a historical theme. It's not overly complex, but it provides enough depth to keep you engaged and thinking. While the game may not be for everyone, it certainly left a positive impression on me. I found it to be a fun and engaging experience that I would gladly play again.
