Noblemen
Noblemen review
Noblemen is a game that's definitely got a lot going for it. The production quality is excellent - the thick cardboard, beautiful artwork, and thematic game board are all very impressive. The tile placement mechanic is novel, with the placement of tiles yielding more tiles or money. This creates a satisfying gameplay loop that feels engaging.
I enjoyed the variety of ways to earn points, and the Masquerade balls, where you can swap heads with other players, add a fun element of intrigue. The scandal cards are also a nice touch, adding a bit of spice to the game.
However, the game does lack a bit of interaction. There are only a few ways to directly impact other players, so it can feel like a race to the finish line more than a true competitive experience. I'm also not sure how well it will hold up over multiple playthroughs. The strategic depth is not as deep as some other games I've played.
Overall, Noblemen is a solid game with great components and a unique tile placement mechanic. It's a good choice for players who enjoy engine-building and thematic games. But if you're looking for a game with intense strategic competition and deep replayability, you might want to look elsewhere.
