DC Comics Dice Masters: War of Light
DC Comics Dice Masters: War of Light review
As a long-time fan of Dice Masters, I was excited to get my hands on the DC Comics Dice Masters: War of Light set. This set introduces some really cool new Lantern Corps characters and offers a fresh take on the game with its ring affiliation mechanic. While I do agree with some reviewers that this set is best enjoyed as a limited set due to the reliance on specific ring affiliations, there are still plenty of interesting cards that work well in other teams.
The starter set is a decent introduction for new players, but as some reviewers have pointed out, the two dice per character can feel limiting. The addition of the new Basic Action Cards, like "Big Entrance" and "Monument to Evil," is definitely a plus, offering unique strategic options for the game. However, I do think that the Avengers vs. X-Men starter set is a better overall starting point for new players.
One thing I found really cool is that the dice bags in this set have the awesome War of Light artwork. The character cards like Sinestro: Corps Namesake and John Stewart: Architect are also fun and provide some unique gameplay twists.
Overall, I enjoyed playing with the War of Light set. The ring affiliation mechanic adds a new layer of strategy to the game, and the set provides some unique and powerful characters. If you're a fan of Dice Masters and the DC universe, this set is definitely worth picking up, although it might not be the ideal starting point for a new player.
