Tanto Cuore
Tanto Cuore review
Tanto Cuore is a Japanese deck-building card game that reminds me a lot of Dominion. You play as the Lord of a mansion, hiring maids to fill out your house and become the King of Maids! The goal is simple: have the most Victory Points at the end of the game. You earn Victory Points by employing a variety of maids and "Love" cards. You can even employ Private Maids that stick around to use their special powers each turn. Some give you a bonus, while others negatively affect your opponents. But be careful! Your opponents can make your maids sick or give them bad habits, which can negatively affect your maids and decrease your Victory Points!
The game's art is in the Japanese anime style and uses the maid theme commonly seen in anime. All the cards, dividers, and manual fit into an easy-to-transport box, so you can easily take the game with you wherever you go.
I've been playing this game with my friends for a few weeks now, and it's quickly become a favorite. The deck-building mechanics are fun and engaging, and the maid theme is a nice change of pace from the typical fantasy or medieval settings of other deck-building games. It's also pretty easy to learn, even for people who haven't played many deck-building games before.
The art is a bit of a mixed bag. Some people find the maid theme to be a little too "anime" or "cutesy," but I personally don't mind it. The art is well-done and adds a bit of personality to the game. However, I do agree with some of the reviews that the text on the cards is quite small. I found myself having to squint to read some of the card effects.
Overall, I'd highly recommend Tanto Cuore to anyone who enjoys deck-building games. It's a fun, fast-paced game with a unique theme that's sure to appeal to a wide range of players. While the theme might not be for everyone, the game itself is solid, and the gameplay is engaging. I've already bought the expansions, and I can't wait to see what other maids and strategies are waiting for me in the future!
