Shadows of Brimstone: Forbidden Fortress review

Shadows of Brimstone: Forbidden Fortress is a fantastic addition to the Shadows of Brimstone series. I've been a fan of the game since its inception, and this expansion delivers on all fronts. The new Feudal Japan setting is a welcome change of pace from the Old West, and the new heroes and enemies are both interesting and challenging.

I particularly enjoyed the new magic system, which is more powerful than in the base game. The Sorceress hero is especially fun to play, and the magic system is definitely something that will appeal to players who enjoy more strategic gameplay. The monsters are also more challenging than in the base game, with new resurrection mechanics for undead and interesting attack patterns that keep you on your toes.

The game is a bit more complex than the base game, but it's not overwhelming. The rulebook is well-written and easy to follow, and the game is designed to be cooperative, so you'll be working with your friends to overcome the challenges ahead. The miniatures are high quality, and the art is beautiful. Overall, I highly recommend Shadows of Brimstone: Forbidden Fortress to any fan of the Shadows of Brimstone series.

However, I did have one issue with my purchase. The box arrived with a dented corner and a split lid. I'm happy the shrink wrap was intact, and thankfully nothing was missing. That being said, the issue with the box was disappointing, and I would have preferred to receive a brand new, pristine product. However, overall, I am happy with the purchase.
