France '40 review

France '40 is a fascinating two-in-one board game that captures the crucial moments of the early stages of World War II. It's a game that really draws you in with its historical accuracy and challenging gameplay. The two separate games, Sickle Cut and Dynamo, cover the German advance and the subsequent British retreat to Dunkirk, respectively. Both games use the same rules and many of the same pieces, which is a nice touch.

I really appreciate how the game focuses on armor, air support, and morale. It adds a lot of depth and complexity to the gameplay. And the special rules, like those for Allied Heavy Tanks, DeGaulle, and Rommel, are a great way to inject a bit of historical flavor.

As a big fan of military history, I found myself spending hours studying the maps and piecing together the strategies. This game is a great way to learn about this important period of history while having a lot of fun.

One thing I will say is that the game is a bit complex. There's a lot of information to absorb, but it's worth the effort. And with its excellent design and engaging gameplay, I highly recommend France '40 to anyone who enjoys wargames or history.
