Electronic Catch Phrase review

I recently purchased the Electronic Catch Phrase Decades edition for my family, hoping to add some fun to our holiday gatherings. I was drawn to this version because it offered a variety of decades to choose from, allowing for a more diverse range of clues and topics. While the game was indeed fun, I found that it wasn't quite as universally engaging as the original version.

The biggest challenge we encountered was the difficulty in playing across generations. While the younger members of our family enjoyed the modern decades, the older folks struggled to keep up with newer references and pop culture figures. This led to some awkward moments where we were forced to skip over words that were too obscure for certain age groups.

Additionally, the game doesn't allow for mixing decades during a round, which would have been a nice feature. It felt a bit limiting to be stuck within a single decade at a time. Despite these drawbacks, the Electronic Catch Phrase Decades edition is still a decent choice for families looking for a lighthearted party game. The electronic timer and scoring system add a nice touch, and the variety of decades keeps things fresh. However, if you're looking for a game that truly appeals to all ages, the original version of Electronic Catch Phrase might be a better choice.
