D-Day at Peleliu review

D-Day at Peleliu is a challenging and engaging solitaire wargame that focuses on the brutal battle for the island of Peleliu in World War II. The game features a detailed map and counters, and the rules are complex but well-presented, making it a rewarding experience for those who enjoy a good challenge.

The game captures the intensity of the battle, with landing hazards, variable enemy positions, and a random-event-driven narrative that keeps you on your toes. I especially appreciate the addition of new features unique to the Pacific Theater, such as US naval and aerial bombardment, flamethrowers, and Japanese tank attacks.

One of the things I love about this game is that it's incredibly difficult to win. I've lost more times than I can count, but each time I learn something new and feel like I'm getting closer to achieving victory. The game's difficulty is what draws me in, and it's definitely not for the faint of heart.

However, I do share the concerns of some reviewers about the game's difficulty and the lack of winnable scenarios. While the historical accuracy is commendable, it would be great to see some scenarios based on actual historical outcomes that are actually winnable.

Despite this minor criticism, D-Day at Peleliu is a fantastic game for those who enjoy challenging solitaire wargames with a historical theme. If you're looking for a game that will test your strategic skills and keep you coming back for more, this is definitely one to check out.
